Tech. Sgt. Jessica Keller, a military working dog kennel master at the 56th Security Forces Squadron, recently placed first in her division of a women's figure competition held by the National Physique Committee Tournament of Champions.
The competition took place on December 17th, 2015 in San Diego, California. As she entered the stage, Tech. Sgt. Keller had to focus and her routine which she had been practicing for weeks. The intense spotlight caused a blinding effect that made it hard to see the crowd but one thing kept her grounded - her mother's memory.
It was not an easy journey leading up to this moment for Tech. Sgt. Keller as she faced many challenges during her bodybuilding career including her own personal struggles and the health decline of her mother. She had received itarian orders to return to Luke r Force Base from Lackland AFB due to her mother's worsening health.
The journey to this latest competition was hard, especially dealing with my mother's fling health, sd Keller. Being a bodybuilder requires a lot of self-discipline and I needed to balance that with taking care of someone who was in need of me. The most difficult part was trying to find time for myself while also atting to her needs. Unfortunately, she passed away last October which made the competition prep even harder because my mind wasn't set right due to the passing of my mother, continued Keller.
Keller credits her fri Fransesca Piccoli for encouraging her to begin bodybuilding and coaching her through . Thanks to Piccoli's guidance, Keller placed second in her category at her first bodybuilding competition held by the Dennis James Classic NPC in Phoenix, May 2014. She then moved on to placing first in the women’s figure division of the NPC Tournament of Champions also held in San Diego in July.
Keller further credits Piccoli for imparting knowledge that helped her improve her performance at subsequent competitions and for being a source of support as she navigated through difficult times. taught me how diet and exercise affect my physical well-being, sd Keller, who uses this knowledge to understand the impact of food on her mood.
She was my biggest cheerleader, sd Robert Timms, an rcraft Mntenance Squadron weapons lead crew team chief, about Tech. Sgt. Jessica Keller being his partner in both life and fitness eavors. Her passion for bodybuilding complements our shared interests.
Keller's victory at her latest competition has been celebrated not only by her colleagues but also by her boyfri Staff Sgt. Robert Timms who is proud of her accomplishment.
Her first place finish fills me with great pride, sd Timms, It’s a testament to her dedication and hard work as well as our shared passion for fitness.
